Clickbait Detector
Ages 8–11 · 10 minutes · You’ll need: A few headlines
Some headlines inform you. Some just want your click. Learn to tell them apart.
Set up
Collect a few headlines together, or use the ones on this device.
How to play
- Read a headline aloud.
- Decide: honest or clickbait?
- Name the bait: a secret, a shock, a list, “you won’t believe…”.
- Rewrite it as an honest headline.
- Score a point for each good rewrite.
What to say
- “What does this headline want you to feel?”
- “What is it hiding to make you click?”
Easier: Obvious ones: “You won’t believe what happened next!”
Harder: Real news headlines that are only a little misleading.
End with one question: “Why do websites want your click so much?”
